Man Killed at Rick Ross Home

On Wednesday (February 29) a man was shot dead in front of a Miami Gardens home belonging to Rick Ross, and since then reports have claimed that police officials are seeking the Miami rapper for questioning. MTV News reached out for a statement and an area detective confirms that Rick Ross is not a suspect and that he is not being sought for questioning.

Miami Gardens officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 7 a.m. ET after reports of gun shots. When police arrived at the scene of the crime they found a dead body in the yard of a house owned by the rapper, whose real name is William Roberts. Though Ross owns the property, it is not where he resides. "He lives at a different location," Detective Wright told MTV News.

The murder is still under investigation and police declined to reveal the name of the deceased at press time. But it seems Rick Ross is definitely in the clear.

In other news, the Double-M-Genius is set to head to court in May for a case with far less serious ramifications. Former L.A. drug kingpin "Freeway" Rick Ross is suing the rapper who he claims is unlawfully profiting from his name. The case was initially thrown out in 2010, but has now been reopened with a trial date set for early May.

A little over a week ago, Rick Ross was named MTV News' Hottest MC in the Game, nabbing the coveted position on a list of 10. His MMG signees, Wale and Meek Mill, took the #10 and #7 spots, respectively.

Drake & Common Squash Beef "Man 2 Man"

Despite speculation claiming Drake and Common had harsh words toward one another at last weekend's Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, new reports claim the two hip-hop stars actually squashed recent tensions.
According to new reports, the rappers came face-to-face last Sunday (February 12).

Streetz Iz Watchin has learned that Common and Drake actually squashed their beef at the Grammys, clearing up previous reports that the two rappers almost got into a violent altercation. Apparently, both Drake and Common's entourages happened to be in the same area at the end of the Grammy red carpet, near where artists were being distributed their VIP credentials to enter the Staples Center, according to a source in the latter's camp. Common felt it was awkward for two men that had exchanged words in song to be in the same vicinity without saying anything to each other. With the two eyeballing each other intensely, Common asked Drake, "What's up?" Drake responded with a "What's up?" of his own, and Common tried to approach him with the intent of speaking to the Toronto rapper one on one. (Hip Hop Wired)
Despite some initial confusion, they came together and squashed their problems.
However, Drake's security and other members of his entourage defensively intervened in his progress. Allegedly Drake said, "Yo, I grew up listening to this dude, what's the problem?," while his security was telling Common, "We respect you, this isn't necessary." But Common wanted to talk to Drake "man to man," angered that two rivals would cross paths and just not speak. One of the members of Drake's crew turned out to be his father, Dennis Graham, who told Common the two artists "need to cut this out, y'all are better than this." According to the source, the elder Graham's intervention made Com change his approach, with cooler heads prevailing and the two rappers eventually going off to the side and speaking to each other alone. Holding true to the words he said in an interview moments before, Common and Drake exchanged pounds, and told everyone in their respective camps the beef had been squashed.
Now If we can get Nicki and Kim together.

Kanye West Shooting Film in The Middle East

Kanye West reportedly plans to shoot a short film in the Middle East. According to The New York Observer, the 'Heartless' rapper recently sent several scouts to the Persian Gulf to find potential locations for the project. Sources tell the publication that West's team met with government officials and film companies in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha Qatar, with an apparent "bidding war" taking place between the cities for the chance to produce the film. "In Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha all of the film initiatives are government controlled," an insider explained.

Sources say the film may be used to not only entertain, but to "bridge" the cultural divide between Eastern and Western world.
While the details behind West's idea for the project have not been revealed, he is apparently looking to shed light on the lifestyle in the Middle East in order to "bridge the cultural divide". "His reps seemed genuinely enthusiastic about creating a piece which highlights the culture accurately. There's a lot of preconceived notions and stereotypes about Emiratis and Qataris, which Westerners often play up," the source explained. "They discussed how Kanye is looking to bridge the cultural divide and break misconceptions."
